  • review rating 5  We stayed at Beechwood Lodge for one night and wish it was for longer. Gunta and Alec were fabulous hosts!! We received the warmest welcome. The 2 rooms we had were brilliant and so clean. Breakfast was lovely. Felt like home away from home. The only issue we had is that we wanted to stay for longer. We will definitely be back. Thanks for an amazing experience guys!

We enjoyed our stay at Gunta's place A LOT as everything was perfectly fine! We had the best breakfast and everyone of us was able to choose what he/she liked most. The beds were comfortable, too. And the view from our room was lovely. Our room & the bathroom was very clean. Gunta & her crew were very friendly and we were able to use the living room to watch DVDs, etc., too. Highly recommend!!! 🙂

  • Gunta and Alex were so accommodating. The location is amazing. Just walk 5 minutes from their house and you're deep in the forest with deer and rivers. It's really wonderful. The breakfast was amazing as well. Highly recommend and will be back myself.

Wow. I can’t say enough about Gunta and Alex. They drove us to dinner so we could properly relax at the end of the night and picked us up. The breakfast was delicious. The room was perfect, clean, and comfy. And before we left, Alex charted a course for us so we would stay off the beaten path and away from traffic and tourists. Their hospitality was AMAZING!!! We will be coming back next year and plan on staying a whole week with them. Love you two to the moon!

Wonderful, off the beaten track but close to the A9 for travel. Hosts were amazing and couldn't do enough to help. I had a very irritating Labrador with me and they were so understanding and helpful and we managed to get her settled. Breakfast was delicious, rooms were clean, shower was powerful... and the midges were kind when walking the dogs! Definitely will come back when we are next up this way.

A wonderful stay with perfect hosts. It was just a shame that we only had one night. They couldn't have made us feel any more at home and Gunta's energy and cheerfulness was infectious. Breakfast was delicious and we were even given some pancakes to take with us which we enjoyed whilst watching the nearby dolphins. I definitely recomend!!

  •   We booked in for one night at the last minute and wished we could have stayed longer. From the first contact Gunta was warm and helpful (and highly amusing) , and once we arrived both hosts (and the four legged helpers) were wonderfully friendly and kind. The large room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and super comfortable. Alec's DVD collection is super impressive and the relaxing guest lounge is a great idea. You can also take the DVD to your room to watch in bed.
The next day's breakfast was absolutely delicious, and Alec's knowledge of Scotland's attractions and trip planning skills were fantastic.
Next time we'd love to be more organised and base at Beechwood with our Scotland travel planned out by Alec, he takes great care to check out your individual interests and recommends appropriate sites, not just the standard tourist attractions.
Thank you guys so much for a wonderful stay! More

Gunta and Alec run a beautiful B&B in the highland countryside just a stones throw away from Alness. The couple are welcoming and chatty throughout the stay and are the loveliest of hosts.
The rooms at Beechwood Lodge are large and extremely comfortable. The location means a calm and quiet nights sleep and excellent opportunities for stargazing.
The B&B is located not far from Inverness and Loch Ness. Also nearby are The Falls Of Shin where you can see salmon jumping up the falls. Should you need any advice, Alec knows the area well and seemed more than happy to offer suggestions and directions.
Gunta and Alec serve the most lovely breakfasts every morning with a big choice of foods (including haggis!)
Notable also is the couple's large DVD collection that you can either watch in the large and comfortable lounge or in the comfort of your own bed. An excellent way to relax after a long day of exploring the Scottish countryside.
I look forward to returning to Beechwood Lodge in the near future. A big thank you to Gunta and Alec for their fantastic hospitality.

  •   Just stayed a couple of night at Beechwood B&B, with hosts Gunta and Alec who warmly welcomed us. The detached house is situated down a quiet lane with plenty of parking, there is a communal lounge with tv, video and films, this is where breakfast is served. We stayed in room 2, which overlooks the back garden and farming fields, very pleasant. The room is well equipped with a king size bed, there is a tv and video along with tea making facilities, bathroom with shower etc, all tastefully furnished. There is a large breakfast selection. Alec is very knowledgable about what to see and do and can't help you out enough, taking the time to print out maps, directions etc of places to visit, we can't thank him enough as he told us if we had time to visit Fort George and the Culloden battlefield, both of which were excellent places to visit, we even got to see dolphins swimming in the sea near to Fort George. My wife and l would certainly recommend this establishment and would have no reservations in returning in the future. More

  •   We stayed at Beechwood lodge for three nights whilst visiting old friends up the road. Alec and Gunta were really welcoming and went out of their way to make our visit a real joy. Our room was a delight - comfy bed, spotless, great facilities with an amazing view over open fields and woodland beyond. The breakfast was THE best. •   A little bit excited to visit our first B&B on our road-trip true the North of Scotland we where warmly welcomed to there lovely lodge. My daughter and me felt welcome in just seconds. The room was perfect and clean and offered lots of choices for a nice breakfast next day. Alec studied our trip for the coming week and gave us some other options to see more of the beautiful places.
We where happy to come back here 7 days later to fly home the next day. This gave us the possibility to thank them for a unforgettable road trip. There enthusiasm made us love this people and next time we will stay some longer and keep The Beechwood Lodge as a basecamp to drive to the many places they advised us.

    Thank you both so much!

  •   I spent one night at the Beechwood Lodge with four 'biker' friends as we toured Scotland recently.

The welcome was warm and friendly from Gunta and Alec. Our rooms were immaculate, very nicely prepared and well appointed. I shared one of the twin rooms with a friend. Shower was great and a good selection of complimentary toiletries.

The beds were very comfy and I had a really good nights sleep. The area is so quiet and peaceful yet a quick car/bike ride into the village.

Alec recommended some additional routes to explore on our motorbikes, and he shared a dram with us whilst we chatted.

We were encouraged to order food from one of the local takeaways to be delivered to the house which we did and that also was very good.

We spent our evening chilling out. We had brought a couple of bottles of single malt to share and we were told it was no problem to drink our own whisky in the guests living room whilst playing cards and reviewing our day on the bikes.

Breakfast was very good with plenty of tea and toast for us to stock up on for our day ahead in the saddle.

I have visited many bed and breakfasts around the country over the years. Beechwood Lodge is one of the very best and is highly recommended.

I intend to make a revisit with my wife.

  •   This B&B is ideal. Beautifully designed interior which is extremely clean and comfortable. Gunta and Alec were perfect hosts - genuinely friendly, professional, and so helpful - they were brilliant. They have paid attention to every small detail. The room & bathroom were a really good size, the decor was fresh and beautifully done, everything was to a very high standard, and the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to get up. We woke up feeling really rested and relaxed. The location is great. And we had a wonderful, comfortable guest's lounge to relax in. Breakfast was ample and fantastic, all freshly cooked. Very warm house, absolutely CLEAN Comfortable and new beds, fantastic duvet, sheets, towels...big variety of shampoos and gels.
They have a very interesting plus for those that don’t want to only stay in their room; you can go to the living room and watch a film from
    Their dvd collection.
